Sew What!?!?!
A Stitch In Time Saves Nine. Nine what?
I don't get the point, but a stitch in your finger loses 2.5 hours.
That's about how long it took Alayna to have a sewing needle removed from the tip of her left index finger after a trip to the emergency room this morning.
Using her Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine before work early Tuesday, Alayna
got her finger caught between a needle and a hard place. The needle broke into two pieces, launching a chunk through the nail and partially out the other side.
When the incident occurred, Alayna hemmed and hawed then said "Ouch. Darn, that hurts."
Locating the offending fragment of metal was facilitated by the fact that she is not
a haystack, and a couple X-Rays.
A crack medical team was flown in to deal with the crisis but then flew back out when
they found out it was a needle emergency and not a crack emergency.
Next, a needle team led by doctors Gusset & Bobbin were flown in to perform the delicate procedure to remove the little prick.
During the operation, Alayna kept the crew in stitches, spooling off joke after joke
while sipping from a thimble full of gin.
It was touch and go but hundreds of dollars and one band aid later, her finger was not altered, and the operation was deemed a success.
She is currently on the mend and it seams a full recovery is the prognosis, though she will have a welt for a few days. JPM
