Gone But Not Forgotten.

HackFest '07 alpha-numeric landscaping created by Matt O. Marion

Congrats to 2007 HackFest Links' Champion
Matthew O. Marion!

During the awards ceremony, a tussle ensued as Commissioner Marion conferred the award on winner Marion.  As seen below in grainy 1 megapixel cell phone camera images, 2006 champ Marion reluctantly ceded the Pete Maravitch Memorial Trophy, then attempted to regain possession of it.

After a brief struggle, the award ceremony concluded with the trophy safely in the hands of this year's champ.

Matt triumphantly raises the HackFest Trophy as he is congratulated by last year's champ, WOM.

'Burgermeister,' in German, quite literally means 'master of the citizens.'

Commissioner Marion's designation as such takes on dual meaning as he 'sticks a fork in it', prodding dinner to completion over a searing flame with martini-fueled vigilance.

Les Boys of Summer

 sopping.jpg

Soggy to the marrow, Pierre of Paris and Homeboy Matt finally came in out of the rain -- but not before kicking the soccer ball around for half the night on the BaltiMarion badminton-jart-futbol field.  It was a classic confrontation, a fine Franco-American duel, that ended with these smiles and not a single head-butt to be seen.

And there was golf...

New participant this year, Logan, bump-and-runs his ball at the pin, while Mike lips a gimme past the hole on day 2 at beautiful Rocky Pointe Golf Club.

After all was said and done, the competent HackFest staff poured over piles of scorecards, calculating the incalculable, adjusting handicaps, figuring in tiebreakers, trying to make sense of it all.

It was that close.

So far this is the leading candidate.  Send your entries to HackFest Commissioner Marion.

RJMEchill.jpg

An exhausted Mary Ella looks with envy at RJ's CHILL dregs at HF2007, Baltimore.  As hostess, one of her most enjoyable tasks was going from room to room collecting discarded beer bottles to toss into the recycle bin.  She would more often than not find one or two warm, watery ounces remaining at the bottom, which she would then happily chug.  After all, she would murmur justifyingly to herself, "Waste not, want not!"  With a houseful of beer drinkers on hand for the long celebratory weekend, the meticulous Mary Ella was in her element, and it's doubtful that a single tepid drop escaped her parched and parsimonious palate.

"Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, go-od bye!..."

The chorus is never louder than when you are first out of the game.

Steel Cage Badminton Death Match

Failing eyesight, darkness, and diminished reflexes let the next generation of HackFesters nip the kids of The Greatest Generation in a hard fought battle of the birdie.

After years of eating string beans and peanut butter, these two look down on the rest of us.

Beautiful People

Nearly a full compliment of HackFesters grace this shot.  Donna, Stephen, Julie, Mark, Annie, & Jason were dearly missed.

The Hustler

PierreGirlscards.jpg

Pierre, showing young, naive American girls a thing or two about cards.  He won some $7.41 that evening, and back in NYC the following week, magnanimously took Amira to lunch at Amad & Ali's Pita Palace, home of the "$4.99 all-you-can-stomach" buffet and cell phone store.

Merci from our French Connection.

If Pierre is trying to get on our good side, he's doing a pretty good job!  Received this card recently and his thanks go out to all present in Baltimore in August where he was made an honorary HackFesterion and designated as our Paris site selection rep  -- just in case we decide to hold one of yearly gatherings in proximity to the Eiffel Tower.  (We know at least two people who would readily vote for that -- Amira and Nicole).
